Hi again,
try using this website to find a suitable resort, you can search according to resorts labelled "famille plus montagne" which means there are child care facilities, activities outside skiing, children´s ski school etc, or you can search for particularly picturesque "village de charme" etc and even search according to facilities in resort such as an indoor pool. But many of the French apartment chains have their own indoor pools, it takes a bit of research to find a selection of resorts and accommodations which are suitable for all our needs.

These are our criteria for skiing : ski-in/out, garderie, ski school and ski lifts near apartment, self-catering apartment with pool adjacent, northern Alps as we drive, cheap lift passes and ski school as we are a family of 6. Last year we found Les Hauts de Chavants in Les Houches. Les Houches ticks all your boxes except size, only 55km of pistes, but it is part of the greater Mont Blanc area, connected by free bus to Chamonix, Argentiere and Vallorcine and also Verbier and Courmayeur are covered on the Mont Blanc pass, but you have to travel to get there. We just stuck to Les Houches with the children. We booked with Peak Retreats as it was cheaper than booking directly with the French company whilc owns the apartments. I find their website really useful for guidance on resorts and accommodation.

Perhaps St Gervais and Chamonix proper may interest you, both in the northern Alps, easy access from Geneve airport or even by train, loads to do for non skiers. In the Chamonix valley you can travel by bus and train for free if you are staying in the valley. There are magnificent cable cars / trains to viewpoints, eg Mont Blanc tramway which starts in St Gervais or Aiguille du Midi cable car, highest cable car in the Alps. On the valley floor, there is loads to do.
