In France, lovely chalet host and nanny, would like to give them something at end of the week, what's the normal procedure?

we just give the money to them on the last day. " and this is to say thank you for the wonderful time we have had".
no problems.
difficult to know how much though - i guess it depends on how rich you are and how good they were. we once tipped a chalet host £100 for a week because he was excellent, but gave the creche £20 to use on their next night out. we were a lot richer (no kids) when we tipped the chalet host though.
hope that helps

Does thanks also not so flush with kids and after family Ski holiday! Were thinking 50 does that sound stingy?

We gave them 50 euros each so that sounds fine.
