Esprit's Chalet Corniche in Tignes-help!

This is a new chalet for this year. We have just booked with some friends.

Just noticed that they have the snow club from 7.30-10pm on the first floor in the Nursery room. We are on the first floor and our young children will settling down to sleep just as it all kicks off in the snow club.

Has anyone stayed at this chalet yet? Or does anyone have experience of how loud the snow club can be/stayed in a chalet where it has been on the same floor that your kids are sleeping? Am worrying myself stupid now...

Can't speak from experience of that particular chalet. However, ime, Cocoa Club (which is the night time club for children) is generally quiet. They read, play games, do crafts. Never raucous. Or at least I have never known it to be so.

Thank you! Was panicking thinking there would be loads of noise and music. I suppose if the reps know it's on the same floor where kids are sleeping, they would make sure it's not too noisy-I hope!!

Has anyone been to Tignes BTW? Haven't seen much on here about it.

Anything anyone can tell me? In the brochures I've looked at, it says the skiing is "challenging" (gulp!).

tignes is fab!!!! lots of different runs really big area...links to val d'isere.

Tignes is great if you don't like trees (there are none!).

Yes, I noticed from the pictures there weren't many trees. I love tree-lined runs.

Not sure about this resort now, am feeling a bit dubious. No-one on the skiing thread seems to have been there.

Its definitely a resort I have read about on MN. Have you tried looking through posts from last year?

I can heartily recommend Belle Plagne (if you are looking for alternatives). Fab ski area, great childcare and lovely chalet/hotel (ski in/out) with indoor pool and spa

We have booked it now-it was the only chalet that fitted in with the needs of our friends as well as us.

I would like to try one of the hotels with esprit but wanted somewhere where DS could just wander downstairs if he wanted.

Have just been looking at some of the Tignes websites-it sounds ugly and treeless. I suppose we won't be doing much apres-ski anyway but just feeling a bit down-hearted now. Just feel a bit under pressure as I organised it for us and our friends too. I want them to have a good time.

I've skied at Tignes and it is motorway skiing - loads and loads of runs. Not my idea of fun and it is very ugly. You can ski to Val D'Isere which is nicer (more scenic).

La Tania (Trois Vallees - you can ski to Courchevel and Meribel) is purpose built but lovely chalet style and lots of tree lined runs as well as the above tree line stuff.

Do you know if there are some gentle slopes in the village near the kids area? Having looked at the piste map, doesn't look like there are any green runs at all.

Our friends' daughter is three and will be learning to ski. Am worried there will be nowhere for her to practice. I know we can go over to Val d'isere on chairlifts from village for blue runs, but would we have to get the shuttle bus to Val Claret and get the gondola up and down for green runs?

Sorry, don't know as it has been years since I skied there (once was enough!). There are good runs for children as I have friends whose children have learned to ski there. Just not sure of the details though.

Just back from Tignes with Esprit and we all had a great time - we like Tignes as there is just so much skiing! - The snow was great and my eldest went into Spritelets and by the last day was whizzing around with us.

Also the new pool complex is fab - so don't forget your swimming gear.

Only downside was how expensive everything is due to the wak euro.

I haven't stayed in Tignes itself but have gone over that way quite a lot when staying in Val D'Isere a few years ago (both ski areas are joined up to make the Espace Killy).

I found the skiing really good - very good range of pistes to choose from (although no tree lined runs), but I remember having a great time skiing down right from the top (glacier) down into Tignes.

We have been to tignes loads! Last year with esprit at the terril Blanc. Yes there are a few Greens Which are very cruisie but you need to take a blue to get to them. Boys did marmottons a few years back, (Ski Nursery) Adored it . Then a couple of years with evolution. both of which esprit uses. Ski hire is cheaper if you organise your own but you dont have the convenience of esprit bringing your skis back to the chalet from the hire shop on the first day.
To find easy runs for the first day take the aeroski. then blues to the greens. Or take the free bus to val claret up freese, Chilly lift! or go up the palafour (near ski school meeting point) its where the ski school go. When they progress from the nursery slpoes,
Tignes isnt the prettiest and eating out is pricey. Spar in town not to expensive if you buy local brands/ spar own brands but expensive for UK brands. If you want trees ski down to Breviere or for a big day out ski to Fornet. Boys did it as 2nd week skiers!
