To small to ski?

Does anyone know what size ski boots start at? We are planning to take our 3 yr old skiing this year. He's a bit of a midget and his feet are only 22 (I think that's a 7). We don't go until March so maybe he'll have grown a bit by then...

Could be borderline - will he definitely be skiing ? dd had small feet at that age and we had to order hers in to hire for the whole season. How tall is he as skis tend to start at around 90cm . Hire shops will only have limited supplies of small sizes but you can book ahead online in many resorts.

Best bet is to call the outlets in the resort your going to.

You can definitely get boots that small - if you're interested I've got some like these which are are a size 16.0 mondo point (about uk 7.5) for sale - cheap - as they've been outgrown although not worn much.

LunarSea · 09/01/2010 20:48

Oh and you can get skis down to about 70cm - though not everywhere will have them.

Try here

You can def. get ski boots for kids from about the age of 1.

I took DS when he was 7 months old and there were kids not much older than him actually skiing (he stuck to a rubber ring as he wasn't walking)

You should be fine - DS has been on skis since he was 20 months, and I can't think he was bigger than a size 7 then!

Thank you so much. It never ceases to amaze me how useful Mumsnet is. We are going with Mark Warner so I think I'll ring them and check, though surely if anyone's set up for teeny skiiers it should be them. If not then we'll look at buying some. I'll just have to feed him as much as possible between now and then and see if we can improve on 92cm and size 7 feet!

ah they should have access to small enough sizes then . Might be worth dropping an email to ensure that they can reserve some for you rather than take your chances.

Crumpets · 10/01/2010 13:09

I will do that. Thanks again.

took Ds1 when he was 3 and he was really small and had really narrow feet. He coped well on the 90cm skis and i still have his first skis and boots. They will have the right size ,im sure
