Any ex saisonnaires out there in MNland? Are you feeling the pull of the snow yet?

Ex chalet girl from 00/01 and 01/02 and every year since, at this time I start thinking about the coming winter season and how much I would love to do it all again.........

2 DSs later and its all a pipe dream now but DS1 will be up on skis this season and have just purchased new jacket and board bag and beginning to get excited now about forthcoming hol. In March. Going back to where I worked tho, and staying in a hotel right opposite THE BEST BAR IN THE WORLD.

as the mornings get darker and the nights draw in i plan a method to take my family skiing for a month....every year i plan this and so far, no success.i miss the snow so much (but possibly i also miss the lack of responsibility and good friends and spending time with my husband too)
maybe i can manage 2 weeks next easter [hopeful emoticon]

Have been checking the webcams in Val d'Isere and Meribel everyday! And counting down to our holiday in January!!

HeadlessLadyH · 05/11/2009 21:37

Did you work in Meribel honeynut? I did VT and Courchevel but love Meribel. Its where we are going in March.

I am ex Meribel ski guide. God it was fun. Mind you I got the worst ever case of chalet girl's bottom ever known - if you were there in '94, you would remember me (or at least the bum!!!)

I have been checking the webcams too....not sure when we'll go, but looks like march / april. Can't wait. Seeing the DCs leans to ski is just great. I am sure they will be giving me heart attacks soon!

Perhaps when I retire, I might manage another season. Although as I am having both knees MRI scanned this week, that too might be a pipe dream.

Just the thought of it cheers me up!

Haven't ever done a season but does being a fanatical skier count? Baby girl due very early Dec and we have already booked skiing holiday for April! ( Yes we're going very late in the season, but to Verbs, so snow is still good up on glacier etc). My husband did a season there and we go every year - only once this year sadly though , but I'll probably cope as I'll have a new baby to look after! Am extremely excited though already...

I worked in Val d@isere HeadlessLadyH so much fun!

Where are you going in Meribel in March? We are staying at the Alba in Meribel in Jan - really really looking forward to it!

snowmummy · 20/11/2009 20:17

We did a season in Morzine 03/04 and yes, I'm always trying to think of a practical way we could do another or move to the mountains but its not very likely! DCs will be in creche in the mornings for our January holiday so we'll have four whole hours of solid snowboarding DS will also be learning to ski.

HeadlessLadyH · 21/11/2009 09:47

We're at the Alba in March. Am just browsing to see if we can squeeze a week in before Xmas too. I am pining.......

Just bumping this as I was walking yesterday in glorious sunshine with snow and ice on the pavements. Not hugely glamourous, I know, but I thought what a perfect day to be on the mountains. And then I felt a bit that I am a massive journey away from the mountains. Made me miss waking up every morning from Dec to April and being able to get out there.

Hey ho. Best get DS1 and 2 up on skis ASAP!!

greygirl · 24/12/2009 08:36

we went sledging and it was almost like being in the mountains, and my heart ached. but soon soon i shal be there again (and you watch it will be a whiteout the entire week, it will rain and my child will be ill. and i will STILL be thrilled to be there [stoical excited emoticon])

stantonjulie · 02/03/2010 11:50

just seen this, you can guess from my name where i did my seasons. haven't taken my little girl there cos it's too smokey and blokey!!!

HeadlessLadyH · 08/03/2010 19:11

Good to bump this thread every so often.

How long ago did you work there? And do you mind me asking who fo? I only ask as I worked with someone who had just come from a load of season there. It was ten years ago now though.

Its only 2 weeks now till I return to the 3V. Am now getting so excited I can't think about anything else!
