Hi everyone

After hearing and reading so many positive things about Mumsnet-I thought it was about time I joined....

I wondered if anyone had anything good or bad to say about this hotel - I've googled it to death and can't find any reviews....

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

J

Haven't stayed there ourselves but met several other families last year (whilst in another Esprit property) that had been there. I asked about it as we'd considered it and they all loved it. Not a massive ski area, but a lovely family resort and no complaints about the hotel.

I'm surprised nobody has answered this - there's usually plenty of contributors to Esprit threads!

indeed isthisnametaken....everyone seems to be very quiet on skiing so far this year. we think the resort is too small as well (only 100Km of runs) but the hotel does look lovely. Which other esprit one have you 'done'?
thank you!

Terril blanc in Tignes - love the ski area, rooms a bit basic to say the least but good location.

Deux Domaines in Belle Plagne - fab hotel, all childcare in hotel, great location and great ski area. We were there when only half the hotel was open so can imagine the communal areas may get a bit crowded now it's all open.

Mariandre in Alpe D'huez - Hotel OK, good location but didn't really like the ski area.

Hope that helps!

We've skied at Saas Fee at least 5 times now and there is plenty of variety for a week but you do have to allow about half an hour to reach the main slopes, traffic free (aart from electric vehicles) plenty of non skiing activities too. Not stayed at the Esprit place but it is located near the ski school meeting point and seems fairly standard. It was completely refitted to Esprit spec a few years back.

oh and I'm glad I'm not the only one not keen on Alpe d'Huez!

AnnMumsnet · 30/09/2009 12:45

thanks for that!
We've been to alp dhuez too -liked the skiing actually there and the hotel but want somewhere different this year....we looked at belle plagne but are v concerned about small communal area (we are dragging bringing 3 non family ski mates so a good bar is essential....think we'll go back to val as skiing ace and hotel just about ok (bar not massive but in good location off high street)
LIZS - thanks for that on saas fee, tis interesting

i have heard (but have not experienced) that Saas Fee is northernly so facing so great for snow but very cold.Any one agree/dispute this?
and switzerland is normally expensive.
also i was a bit unsure of alpe d'huez, went without kids but probably wouldn't take them (but we went at half term and it was jam packed).

LIZS · 01/10/2009 15:21

It is north facing and very snowsure (glacier, altitude etc) That is not to say it isn't sunny but the sun dips very suddenly so it cna feel cold late afternoon. Also you are quite exposed once above treeline so really feel inclememt weather .

greygirl · 01/10/2009 16:23

...so take a warm jumper i guess!
