Stupid question about skiing

What resorts can you go to that have snow between June and September?

Or is that a really, really stupid question?

you need to look for somewhere with a glacier which will be very high. eg tignes in france. Google 'summer skiing' and there'll be more....the high altitude may not be good for young kids though.
Alternatively came across this the other day skiing in dubai!

I'll have a look, ta!

Southern Hemisphere has snow then. Australia is a bit unreliable: New Zealand, Chile and Argentina have more reliable conditions.

It's now quite common for those European glaciers which do have organised skiing to close in August as the snow gets just too soft and slushy and you end up with rivers of water on top of ice - not very nice to ski at all!. So do check with the resort what their opening dates are.

thredbo in Australia was good - but you wouldn't want to make a special trip to go there! Tbh, and I love skiing, summer skiing doesn't really appeal - but I am sure others will disagree. It is just so limited to a couple of tiny runs up on the glacier, which are icy in the am and slushy in the late am.

I just really dislike the heat, so am trying to think of a summer holiday that doesn't involve me complaining that I am too hot.

Zermatt

We love the mountains and spend our holidays in the French Alps. usually warm, but not too hot. You would always want a duvet at night for example..but you can swim in the lake and it is not too bracing.

LunarSea · 03/02/2009 18:02

Do you actualy want to ski in summer, or just go somewhere where you can see snow?

verylapsedrunner · 03/02/2009 18:55

Go to the Apls for a summer holiday, loads of great places (especially Austria).

..Alps ...

Norway. Don't know about the skiing but it is a great place to go with kids. Try Inntravel.

Several places in the US boast of being able to ski on the 4th July
