...everything fits!

wasn't expecting to get real snow to check out which kid fits which snowsuit/ boots, but they seem to be enjoying it!

Off to Banff next week if we can make it to the airport lol...

Anyone else going to Canada this season?

Hi madwoman!

We are going to France in a week but we went to Banff about 7 years ago. Have you been before?

We loved sunshine village but weren't so keen on Lake Louise (it's a 45 min bus journey). It was also DH first time skiing and he found it terrifying. If you are good skiier tho you will probably love it (I was a bit rusty as well at the time!). The scenery is spectacular as well .

sunshine - we've been lots before - we used to live down the road, so it's like going home lol!
and we loooooove lake louise! i can't believe you didn't like it! did you go over the back or just stick on Wiwaxy? much nicer over the back lol... (if you can manage the cat track, which seems to be great one year and terrifying the next - i'm hoping for great this year...)
i find sunshine scarier on the ladies downhill bit - i always feel like i'm going to disappear straight off the mountain, never to be seen again... (quite likely, given the way i ski lol)
did you ski mt norquay at all?
this year we have to try and get dd2(dc3) on skis, which is going to be entertaining for all concerned - she has mild cp and falls when she walks, so it's going to be a challenge lol... in fact, i need to start a thread about that...

We are off to Canada at Easter. Big White and then Banff, but will ski only sunshine, because ds3 will go to 'tiny tigers' rather than move around. He liked it last year and learned quite a bit of skiing.

madwomanintheattic · 03/02/2009 17:47

ds1 caught rsv at the telus daycare at lake louise, now you come to mention it lol... but he was only 10 weeks
...and the following year he stood behind the tinytigers check-in desk and screamed for a full morning session.
i took him home after that...
fortunately now he's big enough for full day ski-school, so i can wear him out, feed him beef, and put him to bed
i'd love to hear how big white is...

Big White is fab - we went last year as well when the snow was amazing and the place half empty at Easter. ds3 will do full day ski school there, but is still a Tiny tiger at Sunshine.

He has always been reasonably OK at all the ski daycare, after a day or so settling in - but then he is number 3 - would never have managed it with PFB ds1!

Also Big White has a really big adaptive ski program, which everyone doing seems to have great fun, so might be somewhere to consider for future years for your dd2.

madwomanintheattic · 03/02/2009 21:23

oh, that's really useful to know... it's only this year that she's big enough to start thinking about it, so we're just starting out on the adaptive skiing adventure. we thought we'd go somewhere we've been before that said - i've e-mailed sunshine today and their adaptive snowsports co-ordinator is going to get back to me, so i think i've managed to find a way in lol. it'll be really useful to spend a couple of hours with someone with lots of disability snowsports experience and pick their brains before we go it alone! with paying for ski school for the other two she can't afford too many private lessons though lol.

if this time goes ok, i'm going to have such fun checking out all the ski resorts for adaptive programs

wish me luck!
