Excellent!

Mrs JS - how did your hypno session go?

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 29/01/2009 22:07

Brilliant thank you

I can't really explain the technique cos I'm not that clever. However, when we first started the session I had to imagine being on the chairlift and recalled all the anxiety and fear etc and by the end of the session I was able to imagine travelling on a really steep 2 seater chairlift, chatting and smiling, zooming off at the top and skiing down confidently and competently . I have a cd that I have to listen to every day (about 10 mins worth of relaxation) and also physical cues to trigger the good feelings (squeezing my hands around my ski poles )

Thing is, 2 years ago in France I was competently doing reds and worried about chairlifts but not terrified. Last year in Austria I was so anxious (not just about the chairlift but with the chalet and behaviour of so-called friends.........and I think it really affected my skiing cos I could barely complete an easy blue and as you know I cried on the lifts and had panic attacks.

I am soooooo excited about my holiday now . And am so glad that I tried this method. Obviously, only time will tell if it works but right now I am feeling very positive and even relaxed about my kids using the lifts

That's great Mrs JS.

Sounds like your experiences in Austria may have been some sort of trigger for your anxiety.

I take it you will not be skiing with your "friends" again?!!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 30/01/2009 16:30

oh no. Once bitten and all that . We do have some "real" friends to go with and we probably will next year but we decided on just a family break this year.

Sometimes it's less hassle that way isn't it?

Good luck with the CD. Let us all know how it went on your return.
