we can only manage a long weekend skiing this year - where to go?

DHh and I have decided to let the DCs have a holiday with the grandparents while we go skiing for a long weekend . We've been to La Rossiere a few times and find that journey pretty much okay. Is there anywhere even more accessible but still with reasonably good skiing. We are both experienced skiers but out of practice (not been much since the DCs arrived. Our skiing holidays were always boozy affairs with a huge group.)

Any suggestions gratefully received.

TIA

Have done these for short trips (my knees give out after 2-3 days!)
megeve or chamonix are both straightforward drives from geneva
morzine from geneva
les deux alpes from grenoble
or slightly off the wall - isola 2000 from Nice

Morzine has a relatively brief transfer time (approx 1 hour) from Geneva. Even the lower (and therefore nearer) alp resorts in that area have good snow right now but may not provide you and DH with enough of a challenge or particularly attractive apres-ski options.

thanks both. I shall check out those resorts. Chamonix and les deuz alps we have skied quite a bit but i dont recall every going to Morzine, or Megeve. And definitely not Isola 2000 but I'll check it out now.

Megeve is very low though
Morzine is nice and Les Gets (you can ski over to Morzine v easily from tehre too) - have driven to all of these from Geneva and is v quick and easy

Hi mckenzie.

DH and I did this last year. We went to Avoriaz, a really high resort just above Morzine.

Two hour drive from Geneva but very straight forward.

I don't know how to link it but all the info is on another thread about 30 down on the skiing topic.

I posted all the info under my old name of twizzler.

"Apartment or holiday home in ski area in France or Austria"
