Anyone stayed at Hotel Alba in Meribel with Esprit?

We are looking to book for next January, have been with Esprit twice before to Val d'Isere and liked the look of this hotel last time we went to Meribel. Just wondered if anyone had any experience?

I've stayed in Hotel Alba but many years ago and not with Esprit. It was fine. We've aslo had lunch there more recently which was good.

As you will know, the other good thing about the hotel is its location: and easy ski down to the Chaudanne.

Oooh am thinking of here for next year too. Its opposite the BEST BAR IN THE WORLD (IMHO) the Rond Point. And of course the in house child care seems to be a bit of a bonus too. Will be interested to see what the feedback is.

we stayed there last year have also stayed at the chalet hotel in val
it is nicer than the one in val the rooms are nicer and the communal areas are better
the location is fab for ski in and out and yes the bar opposite is good
but it is a long walk to the center of meribel I went with ds2 who was 8 months last year and in the afternoons I wanted to take him out for walks it was fine going down but going back up was a nightmare and the bus was always heaving
but we liked it staff were good
we are off to the new chalet hotel in belle plagne in half term and can't wait

Thanks for feedback - I thought that it looked nicer than the one in Val d'Isere as that was pretty grotty. Have phoned them and provisionally booked the Suite for 4 - and as it is our 3rd holiday with them we get a 5% discount which is a bonus!

Not too worried about the distance from the centre as long as I do not have to carry my skis anywhere I am happy! Also the dd's will be in Spritelets/snow club/nursery so I am not planning on going too far with a buggy!!

ladyhelen2 the Rond Point was my favourite bar ever, but dh went to Meribel on a lads holiday last year and said that it had really changed and was really full of seasonaires every afternoon so you could not even get a table - probably him just realising that he is old now and could not pass for a seasonaire any more!! When are you thinking of going?

The saisonaire thing is why I love it. Am an ex one myself and used to hang out there loads. It was refurbed in 03 I think and it did change but the toffee vodka was still flowing and the bands were still great. Did you ever see a band called Fourplay? Sad, but they are one of the reasons I kept on going back to Meribel after my two seasons in the 3 Valleys!

We're thinking of March probably. DS starts school in January next year so its prob not a good idea to pull him out for a week in his first half term. I know its a long long way off but am missing a season this year due to being pg and need the thought of a ski holiday to look forward to!

Just booked it - very excited, just got a year to wait! Have not been to Meribel since we had the dd's, so will be a bit different going back as a family of 5!

ladyhelen we are not going this year either as dd3 was born in December - first season we have missed for a very long time, it is very annoying when friends and family keep coming back from the Alps saying how amazing the conditions are!

We came back today. We had a fantastic time, the staff were lovely and very helpful.

DS(7) was in sprites for his first week skiing and loved the ski lessons and snow club in the afternoon - but once he got the hang of skiing he prefered to ski with us in the afternoon.

DD(4) was in spritelets loved the holiday as well but to be honest didn't make the rapid progress DS did but I think that is due to her age and coordination etc. Luckily she loved snow club so much she wasn't bothered about us collecting DS and leaving her behind.

BUT Meribel was so expensive especially as the exchange rate is so dire at the moment.

Been looking longingly at thebrochure this very morning. God I wish I was going this year......
Am hoping to book shortly as the preview deals are on and am desperate to get to meribel next year and get DS in spritelets.
Good to know your DCs enjyed it too, ITgirl.
