But very very tiring.

Had a great holiday, worn out but had the best time ever.

Glad you had fun! Where did you go to? Assume this was your very first ski trip?

tiredemma · 06/01/2009 07:40

Yes it was our first trip. We went to Zell am See in Austria with DPs family (all good skiers!).DP, me and the boys all went to ski school for 3 days and then went out each day with the family.
I felt like giving up on the first day as I was in agony from being generally unfit.

Zell is a lovely resort, perfect for families and very pretty. We cant wait to go skiing again!

My dh would love to have a skiing holiday, I've never been and am not convinced.......plus, as a teen my dh skiied for N Yorks& Humberside so I reckon he's a bit good and I'd be shit!

glad you enjoyed it !

Dr Northerner - I had my first skiing holiday aged 34 with my DH who has been skiing since the age of 4 . I was really concerned that we (i.e. me) would have a crap time but I loved it. I had lessons in the mornings and went out with DH in the afternoons. However, I would say its best to go for morning only lessons IME. We had all day lessons in Obergurgl last year and I just found it boring and too much. I went on holiday to be with DH and DCs, not a group of people I didn't know!

Glad you had a great time, tiredemma. Did you stay in Zell itself? We're thinking of going to Zell this year and were considering the Hagleitner Kinderhotel but I noticed it is actually in Schüttdorf, next to Zell.

tiredemma · 07/01/2009 08:02

Hi there, yes we were right in Zell, very central. I dont recall seeing that hotel as we were staying in SC apartments (which were amazing, better than my home!!)

Zell is an excellent resort for families, we intend to go back ASAP. I can highly recommend the 'Carve-in' shop for Ski/boot hire and to book your Skischool there. They were fantastic.

Schuttdorf was the next resort, much quieter than zell.
I loved zell as it was a typical Austrian town, very beautiful and quaint, cobbled streets etc, and the lake is spectacular.
