ski wear - am I just an 80s chick or is it all really dull now?

We are going skiing next year and I haven't been for over 10 years. I have just been looking for some ski clothes and am overwhelmed at how dull all the jackets etc are!

It used to be so glamorous (thinks of photo when 17 with big hair, skisuit with shoulder pads and tiny waist!) but it looks like snowboard culture has really taken over.

I have a rather gorgeous purple all in one skisuit with a glam fun fur hood(a forgiving size 16) that I wouldn't be able to get into now. I bought it when I went to a conference in Davos to go skiing in the limited time after the talks were over. I mainly sat in the cafe enjoying the view drinking gluhwein . I have been wondering what to do with it - would quite like to sell it for charity.

The best range of ski-wear ever is Belfe & Belfe's Postcard range. Think 1950s glamour... £££££££ unfortunately.

gremlindolphin - you should have a chat with one of the mums in our schools playground. She seems to have a selection of what I could only describe as dodgy 80s winter wear.

Earlier this week she had on some ski/padded trousers that looked as if someone had thrown up on (in that 80s way of using random splashes of lurid colours).

Maybe you could borrow hers or find out where she buys them

Is this the sort of thing you were looking for?

lol - my fave is purple and pink (which I did buy in 1989..) and they boys do complain I am too embarrassingly bright - BUT..... they can see me from a distance away among all the sludgey colours, and my mantra IS 'make sure you always know where I am'

Norbert- LOL at the photo, one of my mates still wears a yellow c.1984 Nevica all in one that is v similar. My first ski clothes in the early 1990s were hot pink trousers with lurid pink and purple flowers on the jacket. My 13 year old self thought I was the business! Now though I wear dull blue and grey. Maybe it is time for a revival.
