Are people still looking for investment proerties in ski resorts post Brexit?

Why?

Not me!

I wouldn't now invest in anything ski related due to the catastrophic impacts of global heating.

I have a property to sell in a popular ski resort. Priced below market value in the hope of a fast sale. I just wondered if there was a market out there like thereused to be.

I have a property I need to sell quick qnd wondered if people were still looking for second homes post Brexit.

What do the local estate agents say? They will be the ones who will know the current market conditions.

Since Brexit has curtailed the ability of British passport holders to live, work or retire to the Alps, and has restricted the ability of British citizens to buy property in the EU, particularly second homes (as they are now non-EU citizens) there are probably few British people looking to make this type of investment.

I know they seem to think it will sell? I don't see much moving from their books though. We bought it 15 years ago and it seems like the buyers market has changed a lot. I am out of touch at home and wondered if people still look to the alps for second homes or if that is a thing of the past. It is a property that is 25 % below valuation and has a significant investment potential for the right buyer looking for a ski chalet but I think those people don't exist the way they did. I understand 15 years later I'm not sure I would buy in an alpine ski resort .

What country is it? Places are selling in Switzerland

Market it to French and other Europeans who like skiing. What is the demographic that own such properties around you? British probably not much in the market for holiday homes in EU now. Unless they have an EU passport or are retiring there. Unlikely that retirees will be a good catchment for ski resort, but you'd never know!

I’m sure it will go eventually but French property sales are incredibly slow. You have to wait for that one person. I doubt a Brit will want it…. We are heading towards retirement and I fortunately have EU citizenship so will be able to spend more that 90/180 days in our French mountain retreat. I know everyone is worried about snow cover but we’ve always been ok. No intention to sell, but although it’s primarily our holiday house and not a commercial venture, I am surprised how few people consider the alps as a holiday destination outside of skiing. If we cover taxes and insurance costs I feel we’re going ok. If ours was an investment property it would have been a bad investment, but it’s been amazing in other ways…. Roll on next week! 😎

I can’t imagine property in the Alps would be difficult to sell.

Thanks for the advice I will verify those sites. We have priced it to sell over 211.000 less than asking price to try and avoid it sitting on the market for ages like most of the properties around here. It is to develop so even more reason it needs to be priced correctly yo make sure there is an attractive sum at the end for the buyer . I am a bit stressed as you can probably tell, 😫

Thought about it, but unless you have money to spend I think it’s difficult. It’s a heart/head decision and for us the head always wins out (although not everyone thinks that way).

imp it’s too low for reliable snow over the next decades and costs too much for a pure investment. PDS has invested a lot in the summer season (esp Morzine) so there will always be people who are interested out there but they have got to want it for their own purposes not as a money making enterprise. Add the 90/180 Brexit rule (understand there are changes afoot for second homers and others have eu passports anyway) and French tax and inheritance rules and it’s not for the faint hearted
