Recommendations for mid-range chalet rentals within two and a half hours of Geneva

Can anyone suggest any decent companies for chalet rental within 2,5 hours of Geneva? I'm trying to find something that's neither in the slightly grubby, very basic, bus to the lifts & 5k a week range, nor the hyper luxury, festooned with animal skins, 30-50k a week type of thing.

We have a non-skier in the group, so don't just want somewhere to flop and sleep, but aren't hedge fund managers. Any ideas of where to look, or companies you'd recommend?

I used to have an apartment in Samoens which is a lovely village under an hour from Geneva airport. Take a look at Alps Accommodation which covers this and surrounding villages. I don’t have any benefit from this recommendation and I just mention them as it’s a lovely area and the company are great at what they do.

Have you tried Emerald stay? They have high end chalets but also cater for people wanting quality apartments in many resorts.

When you say chalet do you mean a self catering rental or.a catered chalet? I don’t know anything about catered chalets and they seem to be dwindling as the years go by, but SC St Martin has a variety of SC options, I think it’s a couple of hours from GVA

Try Alpine elements who are in Morzine, Meribel, La plagne, Val d’isere or try Le Ski who are in Courchevel, La Tania, Val d’isere.

Come to Thollon-les-Memises! It’s a small resort (but only 40 mins from Chatel) an hour from Geneva with stunning views of the lake and a friendly mix of French, Swiss, Dutch and British- many of whose have been coming for decades. It has stunning views of the lake and a modest sized but beautifull, uncrowded and fun ski area (blues and reds.) More than enough to enjoy for the week, especially if you nip to Abondanfe too. The walking for non skiers is really excellent, plus there are buses to Evian and other local spots, and the lift pass is cheap (you can also use it to ski at Abondance or Bernex) . It’s not glamorous but there are great restaurants and lots of community events ( like the very fun and raucous fondue communale). We have an apartment but you can hire a nice 3 bed chalet in Feb half term for 2.5k, 2 mins from the telecabine. 5k would get you one of the best in the resort. I’m not a ski expert, but we’ve stayed with friends in Chatel and Val d’Isere but for us, Thollon is always such a fun holiday.
