Recommendations for a family-friendly, snow-sure European ski resort in March

Am still a novice when it comes to skiing having been for the first time this year as an adult, and while I know Google is a thing I always prefer hearing from real people on what worked for them!

Went skiing for first time with DD(will be 4 next year) and DH this year and completely fell in love, although mind you, am still very very much a beginner having skied for the first time as an adult for 5 days!

We are looking at our next (and main) holiday in March 2027 and am looking for recommendations of what worked for people, although I feel like we have a lot of requirements! Please recommend any places in Europe, we are not set on a country!

  • Looking to go in March so has to be snow-sure
  • Good place for a mixed family: 4 year-old who has to be in ski school, beginner adult who wants good one-on-one instruction and very experienced skier husband. So good ski schools and instructors is a must!
  • Based on ski levels, really looking for somewhere that can cater to all of us: good slopes for beginners/family skiing and enough to do for a more advanced skier in 5 days but the latter is less important for my husband as apparently he’s very happy to just do the cruisy easy runs with us and doesn’t necessarily want to do black runs for 5 days :D
  • Really nice, luxury, catered, child-friendly accommodation: promise we are not snobs, but this is our big splash out holiday of the year and most of our holiday budget goes on this, so looking for nice, 4/5 star accommodation, all catered, nice pool, spa, if extra things to do for children even better. This is what makes it truly easy and enjoyable for us as a family where at least two of us like it but are not dying to go skiing as much as the other :D
  • Easy logistics: we don’t mind if it’s an easy transfer from hotel to a gondola, so staying in a village, or ski-in/ski-out, but with a 4 year old who can’t carry her own stuff yet, easy logistics and ways of getting to the main skiing area are an absolute must for us!

For reference we went to Solden this year, and it ticked these boxes for us, but would be keen to try somewhere else too, although not opposed to going back there either!

Thanks in advance!

Rocky Pop hotel in Flaine would be a great place to go. The hotel is SO family friendly.

So many different options! Check out Puy St Vincent and Les Orres in France. I’ve been skiing at both for over 20 years…. March will be great. A friend was there last week March and was raving about the amazing snow. That said this year was exceptionally good…. If you can I’d probably go early March and avoid Easter.

As your chlid will only be 4 years old, you're presumably not tied to school holidays, so almost anywhere in the Alps will be good at the beginning of March.

In Austria there are Kinderhotels that provide exactly what you are looking for in terms of hotel facilities, child-friendly activities and easy access to the slopes and ski school. An example that I can recommend is the Ellmauhof in Hinterglemm, but if you google "Kinderhotel" you'll get lots of options. Alll of the hotels are privately owned, but they use the "Kinderhotel" designation for ensuring common standards and for their marketing.

Another good source for inspiration is the Snowheads.com forum, where you can post the same question or look at the numerous threads on the topic of family ski holidays.
