Hi all. We have half term booked off to ski. Nothing booked yet, but idle scrolling came up with Andorra being cheap and looks like good snow currently.
3 of us. DH is a good but infrequent skier, DS 17 and I are OK but would still need lessons. I was thinking private?
Happy with self catering but open to other options accommodation wise.
Has anyone been. My ski experience is Alps only, France and Austria.

I was there a few years ago, but just passing through for the day from France. Its definitely well set uo for skiing. small place, duty free, cute in parts and great scenery. I follow Phil Carr on youtube and he has a vlog on Andorra which you might be interested in having a look at. It wasnt in Winter but might give you an idea of what the place is like.

Out of all the places I have been, it's one of my top three. Got to say I'm only a blue/red run skier.

Thank you. Any thoughts on accommodation @Dogsrfunny?

We stayed in el tarter, the hotel was called hotel Del Clos. It's a Neilson hotel. The area it's self is not busy, but they hotel was walking distance to the lift, which had a nice bar/cafe that you could sit and watch people ski down the slope

We went to Andorra twice and had a great time. Skiied in Pas de la Casa and Soldeu, definitely preferred Soldeu of the two. Good value compared to Austria and France.

Both times were half term, snow was decent and not overly crowded.

We’re heading there on Sunday. We booked with Andorra Travel Services, they have been really good. We booked last minute so availability wasn’t great, and staying in La Masana. The other area available was Encamp but it was more expensive.

We've booked for France. Alpe de Huez. Andorra was not a realistic option once we started to investigate.
Thanks for your help and enjoy your skiing ⛷️

Have a look at Italy. Slopes are ok, but there is no mountain village feel.

We had a fabulous time in Andorra. Would definitely go back.

the only thing I will say though is that this year there have been massive problems getting to the resort from the airports due to issues with the roads being closed. Not sure I would go this year.

Just on our way home from Andorra.
There were problems with a road closure on the French side of the border, but we ended up taking a train and then getting picked up by a minibus from Andorra Travel Services. Was supposed to get the train back to Toulouse today but train was cancelled a couple of days ago. Again the travel company sorted us out with a transfer back to the airport.
If you can fly easily into Barcelona or Toulouse I highly recommend it.
