My third thread on booking my first ski holiday! Been given good advice to go through a company, but club med quoting 10k for week between Xmas and NY. Can’t get through to Neilsons but appears cheaper online. Bulgaria through Crystal looks amazingly cheap. Is Bulgaria ok for beginners ?

Bulgaria is great for beginners and significantly cheaper than elsewhere. You might also like to look at Slovenia. They are not as high or as extensive as the big European destinations but are perfect for beginners.

Thank you! I think someone on here had warned me off it but I wasn’t sure why. Coach transfer of 3 hours though…not sure how the kids will feel about that…

Bulgaria and Romania are great value for beginners if you book with a package holiday company and get the ‘Learn to Ski’ package.

I wasn’t a beginner when I went to Romania but still had a fabulous experience spending Christmas in Transylvania and seeing the historic buildings and beautiful landscapes, and skiing a bit further up the mountain.

The coach transfer was fine because we stopped halfway at a café where food and drink were a real bargain.
