Just thought I’d put this here for anyone heading to Tarentaise resorts at half term (Val/Tignes, 3 Valleys, Les Arcs among others)

it is likely to be some time before the situation is resolved and will affect all drivers and those transferring from airports too. The northbound/downhill tunnel is presently taking two way traffic but it’s causing long delays either side especially on transfer days.

Traffic last weekend was utterly awful / people in several hours of queues.
This coming weekend is the start of the French school hols, so the next several Saturdays will be busy even in normal circumstances. The local authority are general quite good at dealing with these /there have been numerous similar over the years. They are putting out a statement (around now) as to when they expect it to be safe to re-open the road.

Yes looking like the road will reopen at least partially for weekend transfer traffic
