for various reasons, mainly the opportunity arose and we said yes, we are going to Voss ski resort in a few weeks. We'll be a party of 5 adults and 6 children aged 18 months to 12. Staying in a big lodge type arrangement out of town. I can't quite picture how we are going to manage the very little ones - has anyone been to Voss ski resort? We're staying up near a kids ski area but i was vaguely wondering if there was a playground or indoor play anywhere

I live here in Norway, not Voss, but in the mountains in a different area. Everywhere is a playground here! Apart from a few Leo's Lekelands in the majour cities, indoor soft play isn't a thing here.
Make sure that your kids are well dressed for outdoors, plenty of layers and wool under a snow suit and they will love being outside. For the 18 month old, it might be worth getting a Voksi vognposer for the pushchair if they still use it. These are sheepskin sleeping bags and essential here in winter.
There are lots of small parks, swings etc around. Although I don't know your specific area. If you look for a local barnehage (nursery) or school, there will be lots of play equipment here. It's not like the UK, the grounds are open and it's perfectly acceptable for families to go and play in the school/barnehage grounds at the weekend. For the little kids, they might enjoy this. There will probably be some equipment out too like buckets and spades, etc for the snow. We used to take some Thermos flasks, a picnic and be at a barnehage for a few hours at the weekend when our kids were small.
Sledging or 'ake' is also great for kids. You can get a little akebrett or a bigger mat type thing for kids to throw themselves down a hill. My DD will do this for hours! Sport 1 will sell these, there is one in Voss.
There's Vossabadet too which is the swimming pool.
The ski resorts here are a little quieter so the 12 year olds should be able to do some runs alone once they are comfortable with the area. My DS is 12 and is happy to snowboard with his friends.

Hope this helps!

however when mine was little the ski result is small enough that you can tag parent and we used to build snow castles and play in the snow at the bottom of the slops
