Alternative to ski for a 46 year old?

I live skiing, and have done on/off for 20 years. A few years ago I sprained my ankle very badly and it didn’t heal properly, so now I can ski for 1 or 2 days before the pain forces me to stop (foot swells up).

I love being in the mountains however, so want to find an alternative whilst rest if my family hurl themselves down black slopes. Sledding? Snow walking? Snow hiking?

thank you!

Hi @SanctusInDistress did you get any physio on the ankle after you injured it? I think I'd be trying to get that sorted if it was me as it sounds as if it's not healed properly? Or it's weak and you might be able to do some specific exercises to strengthen it. Something like a wobble board maybe?

But I say that as someone who couldn't bear to go on a ski holiday and not snowboard!

Ski every other day. Chill in spa or reading in nice coffee shop days in between, would be my approach.
