Women's Ski Gear for the quite chubby

I'm definitely a UK 14 and pushing a 16 at the moment. Weight is not shifting and only weeks to go so I am going to have to either develop a nasty dose of gastro or buy new gear.

I've been scouring the sites and all the sizing is all over the place. My current gear is Soyder 12 and is too tight. I just about fit into my M&S size 14 jeans.

Any brand and size recommendations for the similarly chubby of thigh?

There is a German company with a UK site, that has good ski gear for larger sizes. Look up UllaPopken.

Mudflapflat · 26/01/2024 17:28

The short ski shop has a good range of sizes.

fleurneige · 26/01/2024 17:34

and they do longer and shorter length too

I'm size 16 bottom, 18 top and I have ski wear from Mountain Warehouse - soft shell ski trousers: Decathalon -thermals and Dare to Be (online) Jackets. Really 14/16 shouldn't be an issue, they all do at least up tp 16/XL. Personally I'd avoid padded salopettes but really Im just trying not to pay too much because i will lose this weight before next year. Honest

I just got some Pixie Lott for dare2be stretchy ski trousers that are great and in the sale in Debenhams and other sites

I have an ulla popken top that has pilled very badly. I also noticed someone mention ulla popken today in the comments on the DM site 😳

ColdButSunny · 26/01/2024 17:38

I'm a chubby skier and I have bought from Go Outdoors and Mountain Warehouse.

Well, not sure about your top. But UllaPopken has great ski gear for larger sizes, and with different lengths for trousers. Shortening ski trousers is a nightmare, due to zip and inner elasticated cuff, etc, so that is so useful. I have 2 pairs and an anorak which have seen a lot of wear and are still as new.

As for the DM- I certainly wouldn't have seen that.

Mountain warehouse

I am 18 and got a cool outfit from Dope. You can mix and match the outfits here: www.dopesnow.com/uk/stylecreator/girls/snow/?

Great thank you. Will take a look at MW and the German spot. Really annoyed with myself as this is the second set of nice gear I've "outgrown".

This influencer has just done a ski haul

I got some great size 16 ski trousers from Sports Direct (online), big discount and they were perfect when I went to Austria in December. Rest of my stuff is Mountain Warehouse.

Radiatorvalves · 26/01/2024 21:38

Decathlon? Or maybe North Face… I’m a similar size and L north face is fitting at the moment.

rookiemere · 28/01/2024 14:45

I'd go for Decathlon if you need to try things on.
i have found the Dare2b and Tog 24 sizes to be not very generous so if you're ordering online maybe try a couple of sizes to be on the safe side. Surfanic also has a sale on.

kittykarate · 28/01/2024 15:39

Dare2B go up to a size 20, though I agree that they are not very generous. They have done short length ski trousers but I think they don't do many styles.
