Lone parent off to La Tania 5th April any reccs?

Im a new lone parent and my dd and I are off to la Tania 5th April 2008 and was hoping anyone might have some ideas as to child friendly places to eat on the mountain and also early eve on chalet night off (the hol was booked before exp decided hed had enough) so I would love to make it really special as this is probably the last ski trip/holiday we will have for a very very long time Also if anyone fancies meeting on the slopes for some company thatd be good we are both intermediate skiiers (reds - dod our first black this yr in Plan Peisey) my dd is 7

Hi - I've never been to La Tania so can't help there but I noticed you've had no replies to your post. Just wondered whether you had tried any of the other ski forums - Maybe it's considered bad form to do this but I find snowheads is a really great forum - very friendly people (just like mumsnetters) who would give you lots of helpful advice. Hope you have a great time no matter what, sounds like you need a break.

We've been to La Tania for the last 3 years, it's a lovely little place.

For the chalet night off I'd recommend La Ferme de La Tania where you can have a nice raclette or other more traditional dishes. The pizza restaurant is also good.

Places to eat on the mountain are all very expensive, and they get more dear the closer you get to Courchevel. The more reasonably priced are Le Bouc Blanc at the top of the bubble from La Tania and Les Chenus (self-service) at the top of the route down into Courchevel. Le Roc Tania at the top of the way down into Meribel is also good.

I second Les Chenus, although it's been many years since we've been there.

Also over in Courchevel 1650 (assuming you are both competent to get there) there are a number of reasonably-priced restaurants in the village just below the main lift station. Being 100yds off the piste they are much cheaper than the piste-side places, especially at lunchtime. [I remember a brilliant pizza there one year: in the middle of a power cut so the wood-fired pizza oven was their only means of cooking!]

Les Chenues - excellent- we had lunch there every day whilst there a few weeks ago. DC wolfed down their grub and then played in the snow, while i had a lesiurely lunch with great views.

Hi.. My 7 year old has been to La Tania with his dad twice and i have been to Meribel.. La Tania is very nice... Is your 7 year going in to Magic in Motion English ski school ? What a shame we are not going there in April. I would love to meet. I am actually going to Megeve in French Alps,(2nd April) near Chamonix.. otherwise it would be good to link up , esp. my son is 7 year too !

Never mind maltesers - bear me in mind for next yr (if I can afford it now) DD not doing ski school - a cant afford it and b she did her 1st black this yr in loads of snow she is a better skiier than me and I want to really make the most of this hols with her anyway. You will have to let me know how you enjoy megeve getting quite excited as watching snow reports etc and theyve had a great deal of snow this week and hopefully more on the way - I just dont need a week of nice sunny weather before we go so fingers crossed. My dd is a bonkers 7yr old and loves her skiing so if you ever fancy meeting up let me know it would be nice to meet up with a fellow parent to enjoy a chocolate chaud!
