Kinder Hotel Recommendation

Hello

I need a hotel with top quality childcare in a resort suitable for beginners please. I’m leaning towards Austria or Italy.

My 7yo child is an only so I want a kids club where she will be entertained and happy in the afternoons. English is her only language.

A swimming pool would be a bonus.

We would be going at the end of Feb/beginning of March.

My favourite French resort is La Clusaz because it is great for beginners and not many queues. However, it doesn’t have the big childcare element I’m seeking.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you

Ellmauhof in Hinterglemm is highly regarded, and the ski school that they use has English-speaking childrens' instructors.

Italy and Austria won't be full of kids who have English as a first language, but in a mixed class of Dutch/Danish/English/Swedish children, they all seem to get on because lots of the children have some English as a second language (even by 7 or 8 years old) thanks to films, cartoons and computer games.

I’d recommend the Sporthotel Achensee in Austria. All the childcare staff and ski instructors speak good English, the nursery slope is at the hotel and the ski lift next door to it, so really easy on practical grounds. At the end of the week the ski school does a ski race that they record and commentate (in German) that my kids have watched and watched since we got back. The hotel itself is lovely, it’s less expensive than some of the bigger Kindethotels and has a more basic swimming pool than some, but it’s friendly and food/activities/spa are all good quality.

We've stayed at the Sporthotel Achensee in summer and loved it. Thought the set up looked great for winter. Can ski right outside. Not sure how big the ski area is though.

I've also skied and stayed at the one in Zell am see and while we loved the hotel, it was not convenient for the slopes. You had to walk 5 mins across a really busy dual carriageway. Or get the hotel bus.

Also stayed at the Alphubel hotel in Saas Fee. Brilliant childcare, it's a 3 star hotel but great food.

I think the skiing at the Achensee is enough for families who are there for the kids and it gets its fair share of Munich residents coming for ski weekends. It’s not a massive resort but there is enough variety for a holiday if no one wants a big selection of blacks. We liked the fact that the hotel including ski guiding for adults in the price so if you have adults with different levels of ability you can learn from beginners all the way up to some off-piste stuff.
