Warmest snowboots

I’m going to be spending a fair bit of time out in the mountains and on the snow this winter but not skiing.

I am very prone to getting cold feet, what are the warmest snowboots that you’ve ever had? Sorel have been recommended but I can’t find anywhere local to try them on.

Sorel - no question. I have the Caribou and they are bliss for properly snowy conditions (sometimes a little OTT if it isn’t!)

Thanks. Are they true to size? I think I’m going to have to order them online unfortunately

Run a little big IMO, maybe size down half a size if possible

CirceIsMyHomegirl · 01/11/2023 13:52

I second Sorel, they have a good return policy but I would say they run slightly big. I've got insoles in mine because they are slightly large but it just provides an extra layer of insulation.

I’ve got some Merrel boots which I think are a previous incarnation of these .. I bought them skiing and they were rated down to -20 I think . They are so warm I have to wear them without socks most of the time otherwise my feet overheat massively , and I’m generally a cold footed person . You may find it easier to buy when you’re out there as there will be loads more choice.

Sorel definitely. The Whitney are really good for prolonged walking so long as it’s not mega deep snow as they’re ankle boots (would be fine for the Alps) as they have all the toasty warmth of a snow boot but the comfort of a trainer. Go half a size down usually. Asos have them as do M&S if you prefer to order from a known website.

Thanks all. I wonder if there’ll be any Black Friday deals on them……?

Concur sorel, they do run big but that's because you need that in a snow boot. Tight boots restrict circulation, you want them a bit loose so you get a pocket of warm air round the foot, keep the blood flowing and can fit thick socks in too.

SeaToSki · 01/11/2023 23:39

Get a pair of heated socks..they run off rechargable battery packs. Then you can wear any boots and still have cozy feet

Go onto the Sorel website now and they have VIP sign up for early black friday deals. There’s also a deals section that’s there all the time and on Amazon they often have random sizes/colour combos with huge discounts so definitely worth a search.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 02/11/2023 09:35

Thanks. I’ve signed up and also found that Sorel is on Blue Light Card so that’s a good start.

I’m not fussy about the colour so will keep an eye on Amazon too.

I am determined to be warm while I’m out there so that I can do a good job and enjoy myself!

Definitely Sorel, have a range of style. I have the caribou and they are amazing. Worth a look on Vinted as well, lots of people only wear them for a week or two.

I’m on the 5th pair for my son from Vinted and pretty much resell them for what I’ve bought them, then buy the next size up next season.
