Skiing in Chatel...good? Accommodation recommendations?

Hello!
Thinking of a first ski holiday for our family and this thread has been very useful. I am leaning towards Portes du Soleil as I have seen a few places I like the look of, plus transport links work for us. Very keen for early dinner for the kids and something with a bit of flair for us, rather than traditional lasange, beef bourguignon etc

Would anyone strongly recommend against Chatel? We are all beginners, kids ages are 7, 9, 11.

Has anyone stayed at Chalet Cannelle or another chalet in chatel or portes du soleil that might suit us?

Thank you !!

Châtel is great, easy access to Super Châtel area is best for beginner skiers I would say. The town is lovely too. Can’t advise on a chalet but location/easy transport to and from the lifts is very important. If they will run you to and from lifts and town then that’s ideal.

Thank you for this! Yes they provide a transport service and have also said super chatel is great for beginners. I'm sold :)

Chatel is nice and has good access to a great ski area
parking and driving around town is a bit stressful so I’d avoid that if you can
les gets is probably the most family friendly base in PDS
