When do you book your package trip?

We've always found Crystal to be the most competitive on price (family of 4).
We booked our current trip (just back from) in Jan but I'd like to have something sorted by Xmas.

We're quite particular on apartment being ski in/out and the times we fly so not completely flexible - if we were we'd get something amazing last minute I'm sure!

We've used skiworld a lot in the past for catered chalets and they've been consistently great. This year we went self catering and used Travelski so we could get the train. Travelski were great but the overnight train there is pretty brutal but gives you an extra day on the slopes (if you're not too tired to ski though!)

Thanks for replying @PickleSarnie
I was wondering if there is a peculiar time to book that brings the price down? I find leaving it until Jan cutting it a bit fine for first week of Easter hols! Chalets seems to be very expensive too compared to SC apartment?
How was your ski holiday? Did you get to Les Poulettes?! Grin

Aaaargh. Sorry. Wine has been drunk today so I managed to miss your thread title all together!. We tend to book as soon as we come back from skiing tbh because I'm only happy if I have a ski holiday planned. I'm also a bit twitchy that we will miss out if we leave it to the last minute even though, rationally, I'm sure there would be deals to be had. We are also quite fussy about being able to ski in/out (or as close as possible) so tend not to risk compromising.

We got back yesterday - skiing was amazing (and so was the chicken!!) Beautiful sunny days ever day apart from the last day when it snowed and had lovely powder in the afternoon.

We once got an amazing deal on a chalet because Leicestershire generally has different holidays to the rest of the country and ski world clearly hadn't done their homework and priced our holiday week £900 per person cheaper than the previous week! So we booked before the holiday before they realised.

We booked for Feb 24 in Jan 23.

I also book as soon as I come back for the following year. Just like the pp for one place they had already filled the busiest Feb week 2024 before we went in half term 2023. It's not even popular with Brits. If you are flexible you can leave it but if you have very particular requirements just get on and book it. The danger of waiting is that the best stuff is gone. Another good trick is to book the flights and monitor the accommodation but doesn't work for a package of course!

When I was speaking to my agent, he said that covid had decimated the chalet stock of some companies. Prices are up and covers are down.

If you’re happy ‘anywhere’, fine. If you’re fussy (like me), and it sounds like you have requirements: book book book!

skiing now. This was booked in March 22

This winters ski trip was cancelled by the company on the Thursday (leaving on the Saturday) and we got a lot better holiday on the last minute deal than the original one (Bulgaria to Val Thorens!). We are considering risking it again vs a DIY trip to DHs favourite resort.

Just booked ours for Feb HT 2024 but we DIY, not package. Well I've booked the eurotunnel and the accommodation anyway.

We stayed in a CGH Residence this year and they don't release their dates/prices for winter 23/24 until about June. So there may not be the full selection of apartments available right now.

We are going to rebook the the same place for next year so will attempt to be patient and wait until June.
