Any suggestions for DH to join a ski hol on his own?

DH is a good intermediate skier and loves it. I am not! Also I'm nervous and can't stand the faff - or hanging around a resort on my own (also a waste of money as a non-skier). So it would be better if he went on his own as we can't really ski together even if I feel brave. None of our friends ski. Any suggestions for individual skiers to join a similar level group. Not a singles holiday! Looking for next year now really. Thanks

Snowheads bash? snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewforum.php?f=31

You might need to sign up to see all the details. But otherwise they have a long list of trips where people are looking for an extra person along if that doesn't appeal.

I went on a Cold Fusion holiday years ago and it was brilliant. It's not a "Singles" holiday - more of a solo traveller holiday. Pretty much everyone that was there was there because their partner didn't ski www.coldfusionchalets.co.uk/

The FAQs on it are here www.coldfusionchalets.co.uk/faqs/

FFS - that didn't work. But the FAQS confirm it's not a singles holiday!

My husband used to go on ski club of great Britain trips www.skiclub.co.uk/

Was going to suggest Ski Club of Great Britain. Some operators still offer free ski-guiding (Neilson for example) so he could join a group and maybe find similar level skiers.

Also Hemel snow centre runs trips: www.thesnowcentre.com/neilson-group-trips; a few of the instructors usually go along to guide etc.

Also if he is interested in improving his skiing, www.insideoutskiing.com/holidays.html Inside Out trips look fantastic, I have learned with them indoors but never been able to escape for a week to try one of these!

Be been to all inclusive chalets where there have been single people there. The type of place you book separately from flights/transfers etc.

I went on my own with this company www.skiweekender.com/. Other people were in groups, but it was sociable and meals were all together.

Or I have heard Colletts is good as they have different skiing ability groups going out.

RhubarbFairy · 10/03/2023 07:28

I was also going to suggest Snowheads. If he didn't want to do a bash, then there's a board that's basically a classifieds for people looking for ski mates or offering a spare place on a booked trip.

This one is full now but is a brilliant example of it all coming together.

Oak hall - travel company runs trips for about 50 people. Individuals, families, groups of friends book in. Everyone eats together in hotel. They organise groups by ability of those wanting lessons. People tend to ski in small groups and as the group is large there is a range of abilities. Some trips fly out, some to by coach. Very good for people wanting to go alone…you can spend as much or little time as you want with others. It is a Christian organisation, which might not be everyone’s thing, but the Christian content is low key and also optional.

There’s a group called Billy Snow Mate that run ski trips, a friend recently went on one and found it great. They have a fb group if you search for it.
