Why to wear in the evening?!?

I'm off skiing over half term for the first time and genuinely have no clue what to pack for the evenings and don't to over/under pack!

We're staying in a hotel which is half board in Val D'Isere and genuinely for the first time in many years feel a bit out of my depth.

Am I okay with jeans and a nice jumper or do I need a dress?!? How many pairs/types of shoes?!?

Help.... thanks!

I’d always go for comfort after skiing but haven’t been for years so could be out of touch.

DillDanding · 13/02/2023 20:29

Jeans and jumpers is pretty much what everyone wears.

Nobody will be wearing a dress. Some will even still be in thermals!

At the very most I wear jeans and a blouse. With trainers, very minimal make up and brushed hair.

olympicsrock · 13/02/2023 20:36

jeans and jumper

thin too underneath
walking boots on your feet so you don’t fall over

Aside from the terrible autocorrect issues and missing words (that will teach me to message quickly on my phone without reviewing first 🫠) thank you everyone!

I was hoping you would say jumpers and jeans as that's my go-to anyway.

Jeans/leggings and a nice jumper or a jumper dress - and i like flip flops to give your feet a rest. I take a pair of snow boots or hiking- type boots for going out and about in the evening.

BaggyAndWrinkled · 13/02/2023 23:12

Check that your hotel bar/restaurant are happy to accept
Flip flops. Ours wasn't!

Agree with jeans and a top. Maybe not a jumper as you may find bars and things very warm once you're in there. When we went to the hotel bar, I wore my slippers as I'd not taken any light shoes with me and couldn't bear to put my heavy boots back on. I wish I'd taken my Converse.
Quite a swanky hotel and no-one batted an eyelid as it was a mix of a little bit dressed up, jeans and a top, thermals and a hoody, and people still in salopettes and ski boots! The hotel bar was open to the public, too, which is what that crowd was.

In Tignes at the moment and there seems to be quite a few casual skirts and jumper dresses about
It's a real mix and I'd say go with whatever your comfortable with and it'll be fine.
It's really warm here in the day atm which has caught a few off guard with regards to the right layering especially how rapidly the temperature drops as the sun goes down.
