Hello!
We are going to Les Coches (Paridiski region) in February next year. First trip with our two DC (ages 5 and 3). We previously used a nanny when we had just one toddler (in Meribel). I am unsure whether to use the crèche associated with the ESF ski school or whether that will be hard for our kids who don't speak French? It's hard to find out much about it online! Otherwise we can book an English speaking nanny. Any thoughts or advice gratefully received, thank you!

Will ESF take a 3 year old? We’ve always booked private lessons at that age.

From memory, the ESF meeting point for Les coches is at the top of the little bubble lift in the village, I don’t recall seeing any indoor facilities.

have you booked accommodation already? We were there with family ski company so used their childcare.

ESF only take children from 3 years 6 months or it may be 3 years 9 months in some resorts. If the child struggles and has to come out of a session they won't be able to go back in the next day. They have English speaking coaches and prefer to take children from 4 years based on experience that younger children often struggle. Nannies can be very expensive at the moment or you could look at catered chalets with childcare and ski school which often works out better.

We used both in les coches as I had a little one that was under age for the ski school. The nanny was fab. The esf childcare worked ok for us as we were a big group so sent 7 children as a pack who knew each other for lessons/childcare. The childcare was all in french and I think individually my children would’ve found this hard but worked ok as they had each other for chat iyswim. The childcare was in a building down in the village which you could ski to from our chalet but if can’t ski would need to take 2lifts which took a chunk out of our morning of child free ski time.

We went to Les Coches twice in 2011 &2012 with DCs aged 4&6 then 5&7. The ESF took both from 3years. There was a warm place for lunch after morning lessons then we all skied together between 2-4. Worked well for us but was 12 years ago !
