Covid requirements for 13yr DS for Austria

We're going to Austria at Easter, DS is 13 has had both jabs and we have the NHS Covid pass letter to show this. I don't think we need anything else but does he need a PCR to enter Austria. I've been on the .Gov website and the Austrian Tourist Board and I don't think he does but want to check for obvious reasons.

We are also going to Austria next Saturday with a 14 yo who has had 2 jabs. I have read and re-read and think that's all that's needed. Hope so!!

@deuxgarcons Do you think it would be possible to let us know how you get on? We don't fly out until the 9th.

Yes of course, especially if we're refused entry 😬😰

2 jabs - the last within 270 days - are all that is needed.

Once in Austria, you'll need FFP2 masks in hotels, restaurants, on public transport and in gondolas and cabin ski lifts (but not on chair lifts).

I was in Austria last week, flew into Germany. At no point were we asked for vaccine passports in the airport or anywhere once we arrived in Austria. I was expecting a load of checks from the travel info I'd read.

We fly on Saturday - DS (just 12 so isn't fully vax) and I am stressing out about the entry requirements. Understand it says negative antigen rapid test- in the past we have used those ones which you pay to be sent to your home and then you take the test - take photo and they send you a stamped cert with QR code but that was France and not Austria. It says self tests not accepted but does that just refer to over the counter /NHS ones or do I need to find a clinic (argghghgh tomorrow!). Any help gratefully received. It isn't clear on the airline site either.

I think ones you pay to get sent to home and get QR is probably ok. Have you checked with travel company? It's bloody stressful isn't it

Have you been on the .Gov site, there's a link on there for the Ninja Pass for 12 yr olds, if you keep following it you get to the Austrian Tourist Board, which I think had a good explanation of what to do.

The Ninja pass isn't required any more (from what I can gather!) it's more for entry into the country and the rapid antigen for entry into the country.

This is what happens when you book a holiday 36hrs before departure! Madness :)

deuxgarcons · 02/04/2022 14:16

@1099 we arrived and not asked to see covid passes. But when we were here a month ago they were needed to get ski pass so will see later if they still need them for that.

Theonlyoneiknow · 02/04/2022 20:23

We arrived today and nobody asked for anything at any point in the journey. It says online that ninja pass is no longer required.

1099 · 03/04/2022 08:00

Thanks very much, that's really reassuring, have a great time.

First day skiing and again nobody asked for anything. The wearing of the FFP2 masks for age 14+ wasn't enforced either that I could see!
