Austria Skiing Ninja Pass

We are planning a skiing trip to Austria later this month. DS is 14 and double vaccinated. I don't think he requires a Ninja Pass but rules are so complex and I would be grateful if anyone knew if this is correct. As far as I understand, he would only need the Ninja Pass if he wasn't yet double vaccinated.

Thank you very much for the link. I am familiar with this document and I had hoped for clarification that 2G equals 2 vaccinations and not, as for adults entering Austria, plus booster.

I am hoping to find out if anyone could confirm that DS (14) will not require a Ninja Pass, as he is double vaccinated (no booster).

From what I have understood no as double jabbed he doesn't need one. I won't put my life on it as mine are under 12 but I'm certain that is the case. However since it is free and pretty easy to test probably also in the hotel then there is no reason for him not to have one. To ski he doesn't need it however I'm not sure if he needs a pcr to enter Austria as only double jabbed and I think it is also children under 12 that count as parents vaccine status. The pre travel pcr can start his ninja pass off I believe then just test in the hotel which I'm sure is no problem at all.

Sorry I am not sure if you mean to enter Austria or to ski in Austria so just to clarify

To ski/restaurants = no ninja pass needed
To enter Austria = I think he needs pcr as only double jabbed and not boosted.

The above is exactly right - so long as he can show the two jabs (NHS app now available, or via the letter you order) he won’t need the ninja pass to ski or eat out.

Provided of course he gets a negative PCR prior to travel, which gets home into the country, this takes away the need to test in resort (which is a scary prospect IMO!)

Why is it scary? It's fine you can actually just do the lateral flow yourself in the hotel as long as someone certified watches you do it and the result. There is nothing scary about it. It is very easy getting tests in Austria.

Because if he tests positive they’ll have to isolate! Unlike adults who can prove 2G and younger children who don’t have to show their status once they’re in

HistoricMoment · 08/02/2022 06:34

Currently the 2nd jab is valid for only 6 months, not 9 months.
A double vaccination within the last six months or triple within the last 9 months means you can ski without any further testing.

Ah yes I see what you mean. However if he tests positive the others don't have to isolate if fully jabbed, same as he wouldn't if one of the others test positive.

Being jabbed and boosted isn't enough. Austria was absolutely hammered with people catching corona skiing over New Year. Quite probably due to not having to test if you are 2G. Means it was being spread like wild fire. I don't know anyone who returned without corona, my kids included. It would be great if everyone did the right thing and tested whilst there whether jabbed or not.

He needs pcr to travel and that’s it

His double jab gives him free reign

Absolutely this. We are here right now and this is what he would need. Although to be honest my 13 yo is single jabbed and no one has asked for anything other than his initial PCR to enter the country.
