Anyone had any luck with their 13-15yo uploading own NHS app for Covid passes?

Supposedly from 3 February 13-15yo could have their own NHS app for travel. This is supposed to enable them to meet international requirements for their own Covid electronic passes with QR codes etc. Really hard to find much info or stories about people being able to do this but would love to know if anyone has been successful so can get DD set up for half term!

Yes, my two are double vaxxed and all set with the app on their own phones, what do you need to know?
You need to download the nhs app (not the covid 19 one) and then register them for the pass. You need to do the extended verification (upload passport and follow the instructions to make a short video) to get the travel pass.

Oh that sounds great thank you! How long to set up and actually be able to access covid QR code? Do you need anything from GP (one gov site said something about this)? So just need to sit her down with passport and work through the set up by sounds of it, so pleased it's worked for your guys!

It was set up in a matter of a few hours - download the app and complete with a bit of her personal info (including NHS number). Assuming she is registered at a GP it’s all very quick; we are just registered at our local practice which doesn’t offer electronic services for children and we had no issues getting verified. The extra verification took only a couple of hours (uploading the photo of passport and a short video as directed from within the app) until the reply said it was approved. Have heard of some taking a little longer but generally within a day. It’s very straightforward and a relief to have it done at last! Good luck

My ds is15. He's got the paper letter so assume he doesn't need the app?

DistrictCommissioner · 06/02/2022 08:08

I’m really hoping we will be able to sort this - DC had their 2nd jab yesterday so apparently have to wait 5 days now…

schmizaj · 06/02/2022 14:42

Our letter still hasn't arrived after 11 days so that's why I'm trying to get this app set up. If you have the letter though NCTDN then sure that is all need and absolutely fine. Guess if on ski lifts and stuff can flash QR code or phone rather than flash letter though so you have nothing to loose having both!
DC - might be tight to get a letter so app could give you guaranteed proof?

I can’t even apply for the letter till 5 working days after the jab Confused

Sssudio · 06/02/2022 15:14

I got the letter and have the UK and French passes for my 13yo and 15yo has done her own today.

Just waiting for 13yo identity to be verified so we can do it all digitally

The letter only took a few days from applying online if that helps.
