Has anyone been to Zermatt please. Thinking of booking for half term as teen still only has one jab. I think this is OK as under 16, has anyone come to a different conclusion! Also, I can only find b&b which means relying on restaurants, how horrendously expensive are they please?! Thank you.

Zermatt is expensive.. there is no way of making that sound better.. lift passes, food, lockers, transfers and yes,.. restaurants, both in the town and on the piste are expensive. I think my son and I paid 26chf for 2 coffees and 2 cakes, easily over 100chf for a couple of plates of chips and sausages, 2 soups and salad for 5 of us. I dare not even think how much we paid for our evening meal.. lovely restaurant, but it was getting on for 250chf.

But yes, no restrictions for under 16s in Switzerland.

There are plenty of other ski resorts in Switzerland though... not all as stunning but not all as expensive!

Try the Wellness Hostel 4000 in Saas-Fee. We’ve only stayed there in the summer but it’s really good. They also do a reasonably priced evening meal.
