We are back after a week in Val Thorens after a lot of worrying about passes etc. before we set off.
We went via Eurotunnel and French border asked if we had done "PCR tests" (incorrectly) and we just said yes. He stamped our passports and we were in our way.
We stopped for breakfast and , because we sat down to eat, were all asked to scan our TousAntiCovid passes. My daughter only has one jab and, despite arranging being tested each day in resort, this was now an issue. We just told them she was under 12 and they were fine!! We also did the same in a restaurant in Lyon that evening (again on our way to resort) and they were fine.
Throughout our entire time in Val Thorens (there were 6 families - 23 of us in total) checking was minimal at best.
We all got checked going into a bar twice.
No one got checked on a lift, though one of the kids saw spot testing once.
No one wore proper masks on ski lifts, just snoods and even then if you forgot to have it on, no one said anything.
Needed a normal disposal mask for shops and walking around restaurants - though we never saw that enforced.
Did PLF on the way home and had to upload vaccination certs for anyone over 18.
Finally, nothing to do with Covid. But the snow was really bad on the day we left. Used snow socks (which I have never used before) and they worked a treat, easy to put on and take off.
Tip - don't be at the front down a mountain road, leading the traffic when there is no visibility and everything is covered in snow! After soiling my underwear for 15 mins, I pulled in, let the train of cars go past, and joined the rear following the red taillights all the way down. MUCH easier!
