Interested in the area but difficult to tell from piste plan which village makes the best base. Criteria are to be within walking distance of slopes, mainly for DS (5.5) who will be on his 2nd skiing holiday. Would prefer to arrive by train so not the option of driving to a different slope each day (ski bus any good?). Prefer 4* hotel with pool. Having said that like the look of the very modern Haller Hotel in Maria Alm, any views? Do any of the villages have a good indoor pool.....sorry, just a whole list of questions really.

Sorry about not seeing your post until today!!

None of the villages have public indoor pools so it would have to be a hotel with pool, the best ones I can think of are

this one is in our village, not walking distance to the slopes but the ski bus picks you up from the hotel, they have child care as well as a pool, you would get the train to Bischofshofen then taxi to the hotel or bus to Muehlbach then taxi to hotel.

Or this one is in dienten, and although a distance from the village it is directly at the bottom of the slope and ski lifts.Train to Saalfelden, taxi or bus to Dienten.

Was planning to go outside Austrian holidays but due to DH work looks like we'll have to go on 9 Feb ...eeeekkk.
