Is anyone feeling nervous about their 21/22 ski trip?

I realise that I'm probably being silly. I fully recognise that covid has made me a bit irrationally anxious about crowds, busy places, etc. So on that note... We have a large and normally busy resort in France booked (booked pre covid and shifted from last year to this). We're going to a catered chalet with DH's family which includes his child free siblings who will want to go out partying.
I'm a bit worried about ski resorts being covid hotbeds this winter (remembering Whistler last year) and what will happen if we end up with it - we won't be able to travel home presumably so where will we stay? Not to mention the possibility of actually getting ill, though DH and I are both vaccinated so I know that's unlikely.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else is having similar thoughts or if I'm being really foolish.

I thought I had posted this but obviously not ! If Italy lift the super green pass on the 15th January and revert to the green pass (this might be wishful thinking on my part) does anyone know whether the pre departure test in the uk enables you to get the green pass. Reason I ask is our 12 year old has only had one vaccine - had to cancel Xmas so now looking at January . Happy to test her every 48 hrs but the pharmacy in passo tonale is only open mon - fri and the flights arrive on a Saturday which would mean no skiing on Sunday if I read the rules correctly !

There should always be a "farmacia di turno" open outside of normal hours, and I imagine, but can't say for sure, that in the busy resorts there'll be pop up testing areas as there have been all summer. Obviously, it's going to depend on if they lift the super Green requirements.

We've just cancelled our trip over new year to Austria. There were just too many reasons not to go even though we wanted to. I'm gutted but relieved that we've now made a decision as we've been having daily conversations about what to do for weeks.

Hope everyone who does make it to the snow has a fantastic time, we will be back!

I will post, we are leaving tomorrow and can update the thread when we get there. I am concerned about the omicron variant but it is not 'everywhere' just yet, so we are going for it. God help us.

I am rethinking our travel plans for next year though, and might leave out the winter if this is going to happen year in and year out!

mnp321 · 13/12/2021 12:47

6 days before our flight to Geneva and my son had a positive LFT last night. I'm gutted, so near yet so far!

freelions · 13/12/2021 12:55

Oh bugger @mnp321😢

I suppose the only positive is at least you know now with a few days to spare so you can get things cancelled and hopefully not lose all your money. Testing positive on your pre travel test would be far worse!

mnp321 · 13/12/2021 15:17

Thank you. You're right. Which I will appreciate given another day to wallow in my sorrow! We were just so near...

Good news about the Covid passport for our 12-15 year olds

reallyagain · 13/12/2021 17:17

Is there a date for this for 12-15 please?

TheSeventeenth · 13/12/2021 17:22

Not that I can see - we have cancelled our trip for the 28th for France - but hopeful for later in the season (although goal posts may have moved again by then)

reallyagain · 13/12/2021 17:28

Thanks, fingers crossed

TheElderleyBrothers · 13/12/2021 21:42

Just applied online for daughters Covid pass, I don't think it will be here in time, 5 working days needed for it to arrive. I don't expect they send them out first class Sad Now to google how to courier out a document to the ski resort Angry

TheSeventeenth · 13/12/2021 22:00

TheElderleyBrothers Where did you apply please?

TheSeventeenth · 13/12/2021 22:03

TheElderleyBrothers Are you applying for a child aged 12-15?

As far as I can see 12-15 years olds still aren't able to even apply?

TheSeventeenth · 13/12/2021 22:13

Trying to download the app and it says its available to 13 year olds and above (my child is 12!)

TheElderleyBrothers · 13/12/2021 22:50

Sorry to keep you on tenterhooks!

Is anyone feeling nervous about their 21/22 ski trip?
TheElderleyBrothers · 13/12/2021 22:53

TheSeventeenth My child is 13 apparently we have to go to the dr to get access for them when 13-15, my application for proxy was ignored by the Dr.

TheSeventeenth · 14/12/2021 05:17

Overnight, I have discovered that 13+ can download the nhs app.

BUT if you ring 119 and select the Covid pass option you can apply for the letter with QR code for children aged 12+! The letter ‘should’ be with me within 5 working days.

My child had Covid in September and has had one vaccine dose so I am hoping that her letter will be good for the Pass Sanitaire.
