any ideas? myself and 3 or 4 friends are going sans les hommes and sans les enfants. short transfer pretty important - and we don;t really want to drive the transfer ourselves. we are thinking about a hotel - but it would have to be somehwere relaxed. also near the slopes. any recommendations for companies or places?

Try Peak Retreats here.I'm not sure about long weekends with them, but they're a good starting point. We've used them for our Summer Hols for the last three years and they are fantastic. Some friends have also used them for Winter hols.
Samoens is where we've stayed in the Summer and I think it would be great for the Winter too. It's about an hour from Geneva and a really lovely town. Have a great time - I'm very jealous

What part of the UK will you be travelling from (re best flights for short transfer etc)?

PestoMonster · 13/11/2007 13:08

Can I come?

hatwoman · 13/11/2007 18:59

travelling from London - preferably Heathrow. our respective dhs did it last year so we are going off this year funnily enough I am very looking forward to it. I expect dds will be disgusted.

OK, was going to suggest Austria as there are loads of great hotels with indoor pools and great spas to relax in after a days skiing. Problem is you need to fly to Innsbruck or Salzburg and you can only do that from Gatwick. If you are willing to use Stansted the options increase. Have a look at www.skyscanner.net to compare cheap flights.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think debinaustria (MNetter) has a guest house near ski slopes...
Apologies debinaustria if I am wrong!

Can I come too? I'm just about to ask some of my female friends if they'd like to do the same thing...strictly no kids or men, but we don't have much leave left so it needs to be a long weekend.

Trouble is, none of them are great ski-ers whereas I'm a piste basher from morning til the lifts close.

And we can't spend a fortune - so any budget ideas very welcome! At least it'll be cheaper than taking the whole family

Morzene is nice - short transfer - around 1 hour or a bit over from Geneva. Lively resort.

Have stayed here with a group of friends - it was very nice
Le Dahu
bit of a walk to the lift but lovely hotel, very helpful with transfers, highly reccommended.
