Anyone want to join me in pining for the snow?

I've been skiing properly once. Last year (plus a few trips to my local dry slope to get some sort of fix) as we went in February before everything kicked off.

So is it normal to still be obsessed, check the webcams regularly and to think about it daily, desperate to go again?

It's insanity isn't it? Please make me feel better about it.

Oh bless you! If there’s an answer I am marking my place for it! I was already pretty obsessed but this winter like you, even more so.
Hemel is opening Monday (or your local
snow dome should be if that’s not it...) hardly the same but helps to keep the skills up.

Yes!! It's not getting any easier the addiction doesnt go away!

RhubarbFairy · 10/04/2021 13:02

God I'm so happy to hear it's not just me.

No snow domes near me sadly, just a dry slope an hour away. But to be honest, even that will do me at the moment. I've been looking at membership as it's cheaper than going as a one off with both DC.

We're having building work start soon and are deliberately spreading it out over a couple of years so that skiing isn't compromised. DH and I both agreed recently that we'd sacrifice the summer holiday and any short breaks before we'd even consider not skiing. I told the DC that we could have our new kitchen quicker if we didn't go skiing. Both just looked at me in horror.

So it appears that it's a family wide addiction.

DS is already booked in at a Chill Factor on Thursday 😄 it’ll have to do as our dream holiday or Whistler was cancelled last year 😭😭😭 it was an absolute bargain too!

Pining here too. All very normal!

Dindundundundeeer · 02/10/2021 08:40

Very normal. I’ve skied once, or twice (3 times on a good year) a year for the last 25 years and I’m desperate. We had our week in Austria in Feb 20 and I cancelled my friends trip in March and now I have been looking at various holidays feeling sad (got a long weekend booked)

We couldn’t afford a summer holiday when the kids were little but skiing was never stopped.

texarkana · 02/10/2021 14:16

@Dindundundundeeer but looking tentatively ok for this year?

Cazzovuoi · 02/10/2021 14:20

I live 20 minutes from a famous ski resort in Switzerland. But I haven’t being skiing in 2 years because of lockdown and then the 3 hour, zero social distancing queues to get on the telecabine up to the slopes when it reopened.

I am polishing my skis in anticipation of the season. I feel you OP.

Dindundundundeeer · 02/10/2021 19:48

@texarkana well I’m booking. It feels a bit more likely, but not risk free

RhubarbFairy · 03/10/2021 09:21

78 days until we're due to go. Let's hope our flights aren't cancelled a third time as Mr. Rhubarb says that we should give it up as a bad omen if that happens.

Never give up! Are you on top of all the Austria stuff - FFP2 masks, covid passes etc? If we join the EU scheme it should make things much easier for us all.
I’ve had half term flights cancelled and rebooked so hopefully they would have changed yours by now if they were intending to. Fingers crossed
