We’re looking to book for 2021/22 with friends. One if our party has had a quote from ‘BuildMySkiTrip’. Has anyone used them please? We’ve always gone with Crystal/Inghams/Neilson/Mark Warner in the past and don’t want to get burnt with an unknown! Thanks Smile

No. Because we actually build our own trip. We typically drive to France, book our own accommodation through Airbnb then book ski hire, lifts passes & potentially lessons too. It's all very easy due to the Internet!

Unfortunately driving isn’t an option.

We want a catered chalet - can you get this on AirBNB? Genuine question as I’ve never done it. Although we had our fingers burned with AirBNB last summer and now have a £500 voucher/credit note that I’m not sure when we’ll be able to use it.

Ski hire/lift passes/lessons we will probably sort ourselves anyway. It’s mainly the flights, transfers and accommodation we looking at as a package. Plus we’re a party of 9 which I don’t know if that complicates things.

I'm not sure you would get a catered chalet on AIRBNB I am afraid. I think catered chalets are also being dropped by a lot of ski providers while Covid is still quite a threat. I worry someone may sell you something they cant actually end up providing.
The alternative at the moment seems to be booking somewhere self-catering and then booking catering from someone like Husky who deliver. Probably not such good value but it could be a work around.
I think if it was me personally I might look at just booking out a small guesthouse and take up all the rooms there so in effect sole occupancy. Which resort are you considering?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 10/04/2021 13:01

You can usually get catered chalets through the big tour operators though I haven't looked at availability for next season as yet.
We had a trip booked for 2019 all booked directly with ski hire, chalet, train tickets, etc. Still have vouchers for lessons, Eurostar and ski hire x 4. Doubt we'll be able to use them unless the companies are still operating next season. It's been a royal pita.
So if you want fuss free refunds if the French / alpine areas close the resorts again, I'd go with an operator this year.

Thanks for the replies. Since posting we’ve booked it with the company I was asking about (we’re headed to France). They are listed on ATOL & have provided the certificate. This week I’m going to be sorting out travel insurance and will double check Covid clauses. Deposit was also paid on a credit card.

Not sure there is much else we can do protection wise other than hope that the global situation with Covid is much better than it is now 🤞
