How optimistic are you for skiing at Feb half term?

I'm so desperate to book and am swinging between optimism and practicality. It's more the thought of travel corridors, having to isolate etc even if travel is permitted. I wouldn't have the time off from work to allow me to do it. But... I'm so desperate to go skiing. What are your thoughts? Anyone still hoping to book?

We've been away skiing every year for the last 15 years. It's the highlight of the calendar for me. I even went along with the group when I was on crutches one time, as I couldn't bear to miss the mountains and general ambience.
This season? Nope. Gutted to say that we are giving it a miss.

We are pinning hopes on Easter...
Saw pics of zermatt (I think) opening and huge crowd, no sd, at bottom of gondola.

Yes, and they closed it the very next day.

I saw that too on Guardian and Planet Ski. Also their other company Inghams has only 1 chalet open. Also a couple of months ago they cancelled all the Santas Lapland holidays, a friend of mine was going this year and is trying to get a refund. I think chalet ski will be a thing of the past, it was on the cards because of brexit but covid has increased the speed of the demise of ski chalets. Sad really as we loved staying in Chalets and met some lovely families.

Just cancelled our Feb half term ski chalet in Italy. Gutted but just couldn't see it happening and we were due to pay the balance. Still lost our deposit.

Still hopeful for Easter?!

texarkana · 16/12/2020 14:37

Gutted for you @massistar , hope it wasn't a huge deposit you lost.
We've got flights for Easter as I don't want to be locked into a travel contract - they can be moved. And that is what I'm expecting to have to do, to be honest Sad

35% @texarkana so quite a bit. But it was direct with a small chalet company so would've lost the lot otherwise. Flights were cheap and I'm hoping to move them either to Easter or next winter.
