Anyone care to recommend me a ski weekend that's not France please?

We head to Morzine every year for a "weekend" (weds-sun). It's near Geneva where there's a good choice of flights, it's got high areas so it's good for snow.

I really fancy giving Austria or Italy a try, can anyone recommend where to look? Ideally there'd be a flight from the north of England (this aspect is not looking great for a short break with Innsbruck and Turin seeming to be weekly)

We'd like it to be:
Not too long a transfer (less than 2 hours)
High up
Flights from North (not essential)

We're probably going to self cater as we like a good lunch so somewhere with a bit of Apres would be good to

Thanks in advance

St Anton?

I wouldn't go to Italy right now...

A friend is going to Finland for a mini break thurs-sun this week. Flying from London though

This is their third time going

@LochJessMonster it's for next year so I'm going to plan away regardless if Coronavirus. Finland sounds interesting! Although one of the reasons for not going to France was as it's expensive which I expect Finland would be too

Finland is a terribly small ski area - the biggest resort is only 30kms which I can ski in a day and I’m not expert -so I’d go Austria

Solden in Austria is a good bet as it is fairly close to Innsbruck airport and quite snow sure.

Italy I would recommend Champoluc (fly to Turin) or Courmayeur (fly to Geneva) although if you are going in next few weeks that region may be a little risky.

If you are not too fussed about huge mileage you could look at Otz and Kuhtai in Austria or Bardonechia in Italy.

The Pyrenees? I know it's still France (or Spain or Andorra) but everything is a lot cheaper than the Alps.

Courmayeur is good for a shot trip.

We're just back from a week in Ellmau. We flew to Salzburg, but you could also fly to Munich which generally has more frequent "citybreak" frequency flights. Get a train to Kufstein and taxi from there - or pay for transfers, looks like it would take a couple of hours. Nice resort which is easy to get round.
