Jacket without lift pass pocket on sleeve

Ive bought ds a lovely Mountain Warehouse jacket on Facebook. The only thing i dont like is that there's no pocket on the sleeve for his lift pass?
Has anyone retro fitted one of these? I'm thinking either of unpicking a bit of seam myself or taking it to a local dressmaker, just wondered if anyone else has sorted this issue out?

What resort are you going to? Most gates now just read the pass from an inside pocket.

Thanks its La Tania in the 3V. I like the sleeve because he never touches it so cant lose it from there whereas an inside pocket will have cash, suncream, tissues, phone etc and I'd worry about it falling out. I am wondering about stitching a little pocket up the inside of the sleeve myself though (cheapskate!) do you think the machine can read through the stuffing in the sleeve ok?

This is so annoying! I have just bought DD a lovely jacket from Dare 2b and it also has no lift pass pocket. We're new to skiing but I thought this would be standard??!! Even DS' cheap Decathlon jacket has one.
Nothing to add really but in our one there is an inside mesh pocket which I was going to put it in, however I'm worried that the reader might not pick it up in there and there will be hassle when she's at the ski lessons.
If you lose them will they replace the lift pass if you gave the number or a photo if it?

Get one of those armbands that hold ID - on Amazon etc.

Expressedways · 24/01/2020 13:26

Can’t you just stick it in your outside pocket on the correct side for the gates? I had a jacket like that for years (just replaced it with a lovely North Face one that finally does have the pocket!) and never had an issue. Just don’t use the pocket for anything else so you’re not opening it regularly and risking the pass falling out.

don't the passes have a paperclip thing that clips onto the zip of the coat? then it is always there

AndyMurraysCat · 24/01/2020 13:48

My ski passes last year were just like a credit card, no loops.

Monkey500 · 24/01/2020 14:55

Some of the ski fleeces have a chest pocket but it does mean you have to remember to move the pass into the fresh jumper. Might be easier to pop it in the coat internal chest pocket and threaten no treats if other things stored in there alongside. Also I wouldn't advocate the arm strap solution too easy to lose it.

I would advise photo-ing the receipts and passes just in case as they will replace for a small charge. My confession is that I am the only one to have lost my pass on family ski holidays

Can you put a pouch on the inside of the sleeve? Neither Dh or I have sleeve pockets but just put it in an inside zip up one. Could you pin/stick it inside one ?

tictac86 · 24/01/2020 15:12

Maybe use a pocket with a string and clip so you could attach the pass to the pocket inside to prevent lose.

pollyputthepastaon · 25/01/2020 08:23

I just put ours in an inside chest pocket and don’t use that pocket for anything else so it never gets lost.

The machines can read the pass through many layers don’t worry.

Lift pass readers are sensitive enough to pick up the pass without it needing to be in the sleeve. Most ski coats have a separate inside pocket to hold the credit card size pass.

DH put his in his salopette pocket as it zips up. Plus he's tall so that pocket is about the scanner height. His jacket is also Mountain Warehouse. DS1 and I have Trespass and DS2 has a Decathlon all in one. All have sleeve pockets!

Monkey500 · 14/02/2020 16:22

Not really to do with lift pass pockets but is anybody else heading over this weekend? We've just started the long drive to Morzine

Ski pass holder

A different type of ski pass holder

These external types of pass holders is what we had to use in the days before scanners.
