I am new to this site but I am seeking information and ideas for my 8 year old son who has DCD/or dyspraxia. Any parents out there? I would love to trade notes and ideas/strategies if that is possible.

You've posted in the skiing area. Did you mean to? Smile

You'd be better off posting in SN Chat, or one of the Education boards, or Parenting depending on age of your child.

Suggest you report your opening post to MN and ask them to move it.

DD1, 20, has dyspraxia. Impacts her executive functioning / organisational skills as well as being accident prone. 2019 we had burnt legs due to hot drink spillage, and concussion from car door as well as other more minor things. Has learned to drive though.

DD2, 15, has DCD. Only mastered walking down stairs after she went to secondary (actually still not that great now). Struggles with both fine and gross motor skills, but gets by.

Both can swim. Both can cycle but I wouldn't put either of them on anything but quiet residential roads.

Ds was assessed for Dyspraxia but was diagnosed with hypotonia instead, he has no coordination, has lots of trips & falls, can't ride a bike, his handwriting is so bad he has to use a laptop at school, still struggles with a knife & fork at 15.

I wouldn't dream of taking my girls skiing, it would be a recipe for disaster.

Ds is dyspraxic but a great skier. Even after an 8 year break it came back in minutes.
