Transfers to ski resort

My son is going to be working a ski season in Belle Plagne. We are hoping to visit him at the start of the Easter holidays. The flights and accommodation are reasonable but the transfers seem very expensive! Any cheaper alternatives or suggestions??

Look online, rent a car, get a minicab? We used a bus company last time, booked online

Ah ok- the bus transfers were a lot of money. Will check out car rental as might be cheaper

Bear in mind conditions aren’t always great and you’ll need somewhere to park for duration
Have you been skiing before- check where your accommodation is in relation to ski slopes and centre ville

My other half has been a few times but years ago! Will suss things out a bit more when my son gets out there. There might be chance of a lift share. Not keen on driving myself...

I'd be reluctant to hire a car if you're not comfortable driving in potentially snowy conditions- we struggled and failed to put on snow chains on the way to the airport after a ski holiday once.

There may well be shared bus shuttles during ski season if you fly at the weekend.

rookiemere · 02/11/2019 19:03

Which airport are you flying to ?

WingingWonder · 02/11/2019 19:14

Ideally there are resort shuttle busses available which are independent ski van mini bus affairs rather than bus transfers, his company should know about this and be able to advise

Hoping to fly into Geneva. Will find out more soon.

Ok so quick google www.bensbus.co.uk has bus at 89 euros return pp or if you want private transfers I found www.findtransfers.com good as you put in what you want and the companies quote you.

it says its a hairy drive so probably not recommended. Another option if you're going outside school holidays and aren't staying with your son is to see what the cheapest packaged ski holiday is, but that's only worth it if accommodation isn't included.

When we went to Samoens, the transfers per person cost more than the Easyjet flights - unfortunately just the way it is.

Thanks- will check out the links. It will probably only be our daughter actually skiing so that will reduce the cost. We will probably go in Easter holidays so hopefully there’ll still be enough snow!!
