Talk socks to me

We're skiing for the first time in February. Now it's gone cold, I've dug out my warm socks, which got me thinking about skiing.
I have some Icelandic wool socks that I got in Reykjavik that are incredible for keeping my feet warm. But will they work for skiing? Or will I be too hot in the ski boots? We're a family of two adults and two children (8 and 6).

Thanks.

You will want special ski socks - they should be padded and seamed in the right places for the pressure points in your boots. Normal socks will be really uncomfortable!

I'd recommend soft, smooth thick socks. I'd advise against anything rough, textured or ribbed as they can dig in under tight ski boots and will be really uncomfortable!

Falke do excellent ski socks. They do beginner socks that are a bit thicker if not need it but very thick socks or non ski socks aren’t a good idea as they stop good control/comfort in a ski boot.

I always buy ours from Aldi. Might be worth signing up to their specials newsletter to find out when they go on sale if you're interested.
They are at most a quarter of the price of Falke ones

I keep seeing Aldi recommended on this board, which is excellent as we love Aldi anyway. Guess I'm camping out the night before it goes on sale then.

Aldi or Decathlon, for a first time you aren't going to be noticing the difference if you bought top quality or expensive stuff

Aldi and Lidl are definitely worth keeping an eye on. they are really good quality and price.
