kids ski wear

I'm an experienced skier and quite happy with what I need to wear but feel like a total novice when working out what I need for the kids! We're going in March and will have a 15 month old and a 3.5 year old. Will a jojo snowsuit suffice for the little one or will it not be warm enough? All in one or separates for the 3 year old? What brand should I look for?

All in ones fron H and M.

I put my 2YO in a north face all in one. They’re not cheap but we can justify the cost as we get terrible winters (not UK) and they have extra inside seams you can cut out to add extra length in the legs and arms so they easily do 2 seasons.

I've always put my daughter in tresspass. ive gone with separate as well as a lot easier to take to the toilet and i would go with one jacket and 2 x slopettes.
Lidl and Aldi are also very good for kids and cheap.

Polarn o Pyret here (black friday they often do a flash sale) the stuff is fab quality. Check ebay too.

Proper quality gloves/mittens are essential. That's what to spend the money on. I use Hestra.

Make sure the trousers have a high waterproof level because that age group spend a lot of time sitting on the snow. So a 5,000mm waterproof level is NOT high enough. If skiwear doesn't specifically state the waterproof level then assume it is only 5,000mm

Go for 10,000mm waterproof level.

Following this with interest. Good to know about the waterproof level. I see recommendations for Aldi a lot. Are they sufficiently waterproof?

I always get toddler all in ones from Polarn too and buy when they have a discount on. Columbia Buga are good ski sets for 3/4 year olds - I think easier for loo trips or at lunchtime etc than all in one. Often found on amazon or discount sites.

We’ve taken ds each year from 18mo and we use decathlon. It’s such good value and what all the French kids wear. We don’t go in very very low temperatures though (eg we do France in late February not Scandinavia in January).
He was in all in ones till 3.5 now he has dungarees with a fleecy top part and jacket.

Keep an eye out for TK Maxx too. I got the most gorgeous French brand all in one for my daughter from there and was only about £35!

Aldi have always been good for us.
We get decathlon gloves as their main ones and Aldi as spares
Neither salopettes or all in ones are ideal for the toilet though!

S9rry to go against the grain but all in ones not great for skiing in March- very inflexible if it's hot and sunny.
Also for your toddler as well as a onepiece take a light weight rain jacket and trousers so they can play in the snow without getting soaked or roasting.
2 pairs of gloves for the skier to prepare for sweaty hands!

Thanks - lots of things to look into! The majority of things I've seen say they're only 5000 waterproof which wouldn't have meant anything to me before!

For the 2 yr old, the waterproof oilskin rainwear from Aldi (with the warm lining) is the job. They’re 100% waterproof so they can sit on the slope and not get wet. In March you shouldn’t need any thing underneath. That and a jacket.
