Flight prices for Feb 2020 - have we been too slow?

Looking at flights to Geneva for Feb half term. They are around £550 per person before bags etc.

Have we missed the boat? Or will they get cheaper over time? On the seat picker thing it didn't look like many seats were sold...

At this point you might be better looking for package holidays than flights alone as they rarely go down for feb half term.

Actually out of interest I priced up flights to Salzburg just now as have booked a package through Crystal ski. Flights on their own per person are actually dearer than the flight , transfers and accommodation package per person that is currently on sale Shock

Really? Ok I'll have a look at Crystal. We have found a bargain SC apartment so that will help if that flights are more expensive.

Google flights seems to suggest the prices are currently higher than normal for that time of year. Doesn't tell you if they're likely to go down though

No, I have been doing the same. Seats haven't been picked for my flight either so I don't think any has been sold.

I'm still awaiting quotes to come back - I booked more or less Mar/Apr for the following Feb HT for the last 3 yrs. This is the first year that I've had to wait for prices to be released so late from my niche ski operator (which doesn't look good, come to think of it).

I'm also panicking! Usually have everything done and dusted by April but flights are sooo expensive this year!

highheelsandbobblehats · 23/07/2019 10:52

I was online the moment the flights to Salzburg were released in April. I got up at 5am for it. Flights still came in at £3000 for a family of 4 with easyJet for February half term.
So we decided to pull the DC out of school the week before and the same flights cost us £300. The accomodation was £700 cheaper as well (private rental apartment). That'll cover the school fine.

I had an alert for our route and the late evening flight of our ideal departure day dropped like a stone today. The day time flights haven't dropped so I wonder if they're not on sale properly yet. Am poised and ready.

Quotes for our top 2 favourite places to stay is 20% more expensive. We’ve made the decision to not go skiing next year as a result. Probably for the best since DC1 is going into YR11. Christmas is out since GCSE mocks are straight after. It looks like i have to redirect my energy into planning a fantastic summer 2020 holiday instead. I just have to live vicariously through others.
