Skiing late in the season

We can only get away to ski from 14th of April. Very late I know. We usually go to Austria. But think it'll be slush by then!

Where could still be snowy? Finland? Sweden? Norway?

We are going to Alpe D’heuz as we couldn’t get away earlier and keeping everything crossed there’s snow!

It depends on the resort altitude more than the country. Hintertux in Austria would be a good bet but Soll would be slushy. Look for any resort in Europe with a glacier to get better snow.

I know people who always ski in obergurgl then and are fine.

Altitude and which way the slope is facing are the 2 factors you need to consider.

Val Thoren would be a good bet.

Trysil in Norway usually has snow until well after Easter, and Ruka/ Levi in Finland

I've been in Europe that late and as long as you pick one of the higher resorts it should be fine.

•	LES ARCS, FR. ...

I've done Tignes and Courcheval 1850 (don't do Courcheval 1350) both in late season.

La Plagne was running out of snow on some slopes two weeks ago. I’m not sure what is forecast now though. I was going to suggest Obergurgul too. Skiied there at Easter before and had a brilliant time - lots of snow.

Val Thorens is the highest resort in EUROPE so is a good bet. Also north facing 👍🏻 That’s where I’d go.

Tignes or Val Thorens. My preference is for Tignes Val Claret but only because I've been going there for years. We went 2 years ago mid-April and were a bit concerned about the prospect of poor conditions. The lower part of the resort to Les Brevieres was closed by then and initially it was very soft at resort level in the afternoons, but there was plenty of good skiing on the higher slopes. On the second day the weather turned very cold, it snowed and the conditions were suddenly fantastic with fresh powder. And it was practically empty!!! There are plenty of north facing slopes in Tignes and it offers the opportunity to get up high and stay there. There's a glacier in Val d'Isere too, so you can spend the day skiing across there and coming back. You need to go down into Val d'Isere to do it, but you can take bubbles/cabins if the snow to resort level is too soft - otherwise you're up high all the way.

We go to the glacier at Kitzsteinhorn (Kaprun/Zell am See)! Ski in the morning, enjoy the lake at Zell in the afternoon.

We went to Montgenevre on the French/Italian border last year around those dates and the conditions were great.
