Beginner / intermediate skiing in school holidays - recommendations please

Hi, DC (12) and I have done a week on snow, DH is more competent but only needing red runs! Where would you recommend that won't break the bank! We are tied to school holidays, so new year, Feb half term or maybe Easter? Im looking at 2020. We need lessons, and plenty of blue runs. Thanks

Andorra is good value.

If you go at Easter, go high

I second Andorra. Soldeu or El Tarter for access to Grandvalira ski area. English speaking ski instructors. Amazing ski area and very cheap compared with other European resorts.

Montgenevre is a super resort for beginners and lower intermediate skiiers and has an English speaking ski school. Also not busy ar all.

Book direct flights to Turin and it's less than an hour away with at least one company doing coach transfers. We stayed in a s/c apartment called mmv that was nice and had an outdoor heated pool pm me if you want any more details.

I’d also suggest Andorra, skiing at the Grand valira area. It’s not too expensive and the slopes are a bit gentler than the alps.

Id also recommend grandvilara in Andorra. It’s ideal for beginners and intermediates. We fly Barcelona for next to nothing!

Yes but Andorra is easy and much cheaper to do independently. Book flights with Ryanair to Barcelona and then ski stuff with Andorra resorts. Com

Thanks Buttercupsanddaisies, that's really helpful. How do you book your transfers from Barcelona or do you hire a car? This is sounding more achievable!

Crystal are great - couldn't recommend them highly enough. And when we costed up going ourselves vs with them, it made financial sense to go with them. But that was to Italy.

We are going with them to Andorra this half-term!

I found going with a tour company rather than by ourselves took a lot of the stress out of it - so nice just to hop on a bus when we landed rather than have the hassle of getting ourselves to the resort.

Andorra resorts do everything in one go- ski school, lift passes, transfers and equipment.

It’s cost us £4700 for family of four to Andorra all in. That’s basically full board as hotel is half board and lift pass inc lunch. That’s for 4* hotel

February, try Sierra Nevadas. Being Spanish, ski school starts at the civilized time of 10am, lots of good English speakers, great food, and you can fly into Malaga which is much cheaper than some of the more traditional "skiing" airports. It's about a 2 hour drive from Malaga.

Bulgaria is brilliant price wise, and great for all levels.
